Just turned in the final illustrations for Lost Cat, A True Story of Love, Desperation and GPS Technology, due out in 2013 from Bloomsbury, written by phenomenal author Caroline Paul, who i'm also lucky to call my partner.

Last week i was in new york for Behance's annual 99% Conference, an event that brings together some of today's sharpest minds to discuss how ideas become reality. I was commissioned to document/draw the conference and use the resulting text and images to create a story and a mount an exhibit at The Ace Hotel in new york.  The show is up at the Ace till June 6, so if you are in new york check it out.  and you can see the story here.

the whole thing was done in 9 days. 2 days to draw/document, 2 days to paint and scan, 3 days to install and 2 days to make the story.

I'm making some drawings for the awesome new Basecamp Hotel in South Lake Tahoe, opening June 20, 2012. As Basecamp is not your typical hotel, it won't be your typical hotel artwork.

(that's the uncensored version of the hotel's artwork, but not too far off.) prints of this drawing and others will be available after the hotel opens. see you there.

art school, circa 1998:


a few days ago my mom found this tucked away in my old closet. it's a shoebox size scale replica of my art school apt. made of balsa, bass and wood glue. it used to be mounted on a base and had wooden drawings hanging on the walls and vertical blinds and shelves, but i disassembled it so i could carry the pieces with me as i moved around. which was kind of weird now that i think about it.

books, magazines, remote controls, ashtrays and cigarette butts.

"Wendy’s previous 20x200 contributions tackled the transient nature of human interaction and the incomprehensible nature of love (see: Things Happen and The Universe and Forever, respectively). With the illustration To Do, she crisply approaches the ever-decreasing line between what we’d like to accomplish and what we can actually do—the people we’d like to be and the people we actually are.

“I was trying to get my head around the overwhelming number of things there are To Do,” explains Wendy. “The eternal lists, the eternal attempt to internally manage everything, the infinite lists… Did I mention the lists? Ultimately, what I find myself doing, as I think so many of us do—especially those of us who participate in the digital realm—we live in a meta to-do place. We overthink how and when and what, and don’t just get the eff up and Do Something.”
