Wendy, can you tell me what you've found "handy" in sketching quickly such as in this airplane sketch? What pens, notebooks, paints do you use? Thanks.

and dave, i use a few different kinds of sketchbooks (this one was moleskin, which is not ideal for watercolor - the paper is coated), micron pens (005,01,and 02) and a field set of watercolors, cakes not liquid. and a waterbottle cap to hold water in.
