September 29, 2010

today my new monthly visual column "Meanwhile," launched in the online magazine, The Rumpus. every month i'm hanging out with a different subculture - spending time with them as they do what they do, drawing and interviewing them. the results become a visual narrative or portrait of sorts using my drawing and the subject's own words.
this first one is on the chess players at 6th and market street in san francisco.

you can see it as it ran (with slight layout changes) on the Rumpus, here.

the Daily Rumpus email and a recent commitment to some how improving my life's strategy through the mastery of chess, directed me to your Market St. illustrations/interviews.

i love them — the concept, the execution. the poetry. i'm sharing the shit out of this. and i look forward to the next "installment."

cheers. you badass.

Really really love this. Great work!

If you were selling prints, I buy "People sit down look at us and think" in a minute.

I just wanted you to know how much I admire your work. I'm so happy you are a graphic journalist. I've been admiring your art for quite a while, and thought I would just let you know how much I loved it. Each and every one. Keep sharing it with us!
