There's no higher honor than contributing to 826 Valencia's Quarterly, a collection of writing by the kids' writing classes at 826. The Rumpus managing editor and Pen & Ink co-founder Isaac Fitzgerald wrote a wonderful introduction and i drew the cover and interior illos. Special thanks to Liz Weil for trusting me alone with her chickens, and Jon Mooallem for playing chicken matchmaker.

I was drawn to this post because of the fabulous chicken illustrations,but clicked on the link to the 826 Valencia program. I live in the Bay Area (San Jose) and am thrilled to learn about such a wonderful program.
