This season's new Edible San Francisco magazine (who just won James Beard Foundation Publication of the Year) is out and I got to do the cover and interior illustrations again (you can see excerpts from the last edition here). This season the magazine focused on the Potrero Hill/Dogpatch/Hunters Point/Bayview area, where i happen to live. i created a quasi-historical maplike drawing of the area's food-centric history for the cover, and drew some foodstuff from the featured neighborhood on the interior (like serpentine and slow club, black jet bakery & flora grubb). you can find the magazine in local eateries and grocery shops around SF, or subscribe here.

Anything that combines a Steinberg hommage, Thiebaud and the McClaren Park water tower is a win in my book.

The fictitious, map-like drawing of a neighborhood’s food history featured on the cover is not only eye-catching, but also provides an interesting link between readers and the culture of its inhabitants.
